blue stick Buddhism

.
I wonder if it ever strikes anyone as it strikes me:

Internet discussions of Buddhism or Zen Buddhism are like safe sex: Lots of fun, sometimes sweetness, sometimes solemnity, sometimes laughter, sometimes tears ... but no one goes home pregnant. The stick never turns blue.

But in Buddhist practice there are more pregnancies than there are Catholics in Ireland... living, growing, caterwauling, giggling, lively, blissful, shitty, curious, drooling, grasping, smiling, screaming ... every second, moment after moment, another blue stick, another baby ... and s/he's all yours.

Safe sex has its place -- or anyway I hope it does -- but let's not forget the living, breathing facts.
